Haida Gwaii 2018

We had the privilege of going on a trip with Maple Leaf Adventures from June 24 to July 2, 2018 with our friends, Philip and Ruth Coleman.   Along with 4 others, we joined a crew of 5 including the Captain, a First Mate, a Naturalist, a Chef, and a Deckhand.  We sailed on the Maple Leaf Schooner that was built in 1904 in Vancouver; it has been used for ecotourism since 1986.  There were 4 sleeping compartments (two on each side) separated by curtains, with a narrow hallway down the middle.  Each compartment had a lower double bed and an upper single bunk.  We all (including the crew) used 2 'heads'.  We stopped to load with fresh water twice.  The toilets were flushed using sea water, of which we were encouraged to use plenty.

Ten of us ate in the galley around one table.  The Chef produced amazing meals gourmet meals from the small kitchen.  We had a first breakfast on rising, a second breakfast an hour later, lunch, dinner with mid-morning and afternoon snacks.  The food was nutritious and well-balanced.
